It really manages to capture the beauty of the northern lights. Those of you who haven’t seen them with your own eyes, they are pretty much like this, although they don’t move so fast, as you can see on the movement of the clouds.

She has a strong belief that “she’ll be taken care of”, and I think this is key for someone who wants to live without stress, whether living in a house and using money, or not! She’s not constantly stressed about what will happen in the future, if she’ll have enough, if she’ll get sick, if she’ll end on the street. And just imagine, these are worries of regular people who actually own a house and have a job! We can learn a lot from that attitude – firmly believing you’ll be taken care of.

She admits that it would be difficult for a person to completely change direction today, and totally give up money. She doesn’t even directly encourage people to do it. But she wants to underline that our current system doesn’t make sense. She says there is too much emphasis on having and buying and being defined by what you own.

She said something else which is worth retaining. It was about the actual value of things. We give too much value to material things that may not actually be as valuable as we think. Does the price of an object define it’s worth, for example? If we think twice about it, we might find that value may not lie where we thought.

I’ve recently seen two pretty good “alternative” movies. Yesterday, I saw Boy, a funny movie from New Zealand, about family, being a kid, facing difficulties from the past and Michael Jackson. And boy, you gotta love that accent. Here’s a trailer:

Last weekend I saw A Woman, a Gun and a Noodle Shop – a Chinese remake of the Coen brothers’ Blood Simple. It was refreshingly different and a good laugh.

I’m now looking forward to seeing a documentary about a German woman who gave up using money 14 years ago. On top of sounding interesting, the entry is free! It’s on Tuesday and it’s called Living Without Money.

So when I feel an urge, a desire or an impulse, I ask myself: “Is it patient?” Is it something that can wait? Is it something that I deem positive and constructive for myself, and am I willing to give it time to happen?

Or does it “have to happen NOW”? Is the urge driven by the need to have it right now, instantly, no matter what?

Well if it is, then I know it’s not coming from myself. I say to myself: “I am patience”. So if an urge or a longing does not come from patience, than it does not come from myself. Then I don’t take much heed from it.

However, if I can feel that this desire is patient and that “it doesn’t have to happen right NOW”, but can happen when the time is right… then I know it’s good. It comes from myself.

I spend most of my time at work reading the news. I read particularly what concerns the politics and economy of my country. I read, analyse, resume and translate these news.

So, through my work, I feel almost close to the politicians leading the country. They have a hard job, and immense amounts of criticism and negative energy are pointed towards them every day. I would like to remind Icelanders, and anybody else that might care, to remember them.

They are led by nothing but good intentions, but the nature of their work is such that nobody is ever completely satisfied with what they do. It’s a very ungrateful job.

In these particularly turbulent times, I would like for us to remember to send them positive energy and thank them for the effort they put into their work – for us.

Let’s keep them in our prayers too.

I celebrate this fact. I think it’s wonderful that another colour is about to be added to the rainbow of cultural diversity in our country.

I hope that they will make it a sort of Muslim cultural centre as well, which will be open to the public, so that people can visit, and learn more about this particular religion.

I hope it will be a part of a movement toward an openness to all religions, enabling us to eventually rise above religious creed, and unite around our essence, what makes us human.

I hope Icelanders will greet the mosque with an open mind, and more importantly, an open heart. I think they will. I believe Icelanders are inherently an open people, ready to discover new things, with curiosity, rather than prejudice.

The WHO reports the following:

Due to the extremely successful measures of Exam Stress prevention in the Martin-organism, the severity degree has not moved beyond PHASE 2. The organism is in a stable condition, and is not being overtaken by thoughts. Danger of further progression of the disease is not considered very likely, and the risk of contamination into other organisms is low. You may safely conduct interaction with the organism, but are advised to keep discussion about the coming exams at a minimum, so as not to provoke the (always, even is slightly) possible disruption of balance.

Given the temporal proximity of the exams, and the fact that these are the last exams of the organism’s university Bachelor degree, this is considered a major accomplishment.
