People Are Never Happy

I was driving with a friend of mine, who is from Kenya, the other day. We were driving along Sæbraut, a large road in Reykjavík. My friend commented on how good Icelandic roads were. I thought “Yes, that’s true. The roads are pretty well kept.” And then I instantly thought: But still, all you ever hear is people complaining about the roads. I’ve never heard an Icelandic person observing how good the roads are. It’s not until someone drives over a pot-hole in the road, that somebody says anything at all, and then it’s about how lame the roads are!

My friend knows what Kenyan bumpy roads are like, and to be sure, they’re nothing like the Icelandic ones. But it’s always the same story, people are just never happy. No matter how much convenience, security and comfort they enjoy, there’s always something wrong, something not good enough, something more to be attained or acquired.

So, blog morale of the day? Be happy with what you’ve got. Chances are that what you have is pretty darn good. Don’t complain. Enjoy! Appreciate!

Somebody posted this video on Facebook the other day. This guy is going on about the same thing, but in a much funnier way!
